A pro democracy group, Taraba First Group (TFG), has condemned a protest purportedly staged by NNPP members on Monday at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja. The protesters were, among others things, demanding for review of the Taraba polls and calling for its cancelations. Recall that NNPP came second in the governorship polls won by PDP’s Lt Col Agbu Kefas (rtd). Kefas has since been issued with a Certificate of Return.

Describing the protest as a brazen affront on democracy, TFG said Taraba electorate are prepared to defend their votes, stressing that INEC must not allow for any anti people development with devastating outcomes. In a statement issued in Jalingo and signed by Inusa Aliyu, TFG said “the evil protest in Abuja is fake and a desperate attempt to upturn people’s will. Why didn’t they protest in Jalingo? They are aware of the popularity and acceptance of these results by the majority of Taraba citizens. Any attempt to touch the people’s wish shall not only be roundly condemned. It shall be vehemently resisted. Taraba state had a very transparent election with a clear winner emerging with a large margin. If anything, everyone have been expecting a congratulatory message from Professor Sani Yahaya of the NNPP. We are therefore bemused by the fake and rented crowd that went on a protest today at INEC. A cursory glance at the protesters would easily reveal that they are not even from Taraba state. We are therefore amused by this desperation on the part of national NNPP. As a matter of fact we even doubt if this was sponsored by NNPP Taraba because they know the truth.”

TFG noted further that forces it described as from outsiders have been overtly interested in Taraba politics. The statement reads, “one of the strange things we have experienced in this election cycle is the strange interest our election garnered especially from preachers outside our state who kept claiming Taraba will be won by the NNPP by hook or crook means. They spoke about the dominance of a certain demography. To their dismay, Taraba voted for balance and historical reality. Since then, the shell shocked NNPP has been in a state of suspended animation. They are so dazed that they are hallucinating. First was an attempt to get INEC to declare Taraba polls as inconclusive. When that failed, they started a crusade for reviews of the results. All that failed and now they are resulting to emotional blackmail. But the results of the election is as glaring as night and day. We urge INEC to remain steadfast even as we call on NNPP to go court.”

The former Nigeria minister of youth and sport Mr Solomon darlung has lead a delegations of northern Nigerian Christian Clergies to sheick Dahiru usman bauchi’s house in kaduna state north western Nigeria

According to him, the aims is to strengthens Christians and Muslim relationship for peace and unity among Nigerians

It was observed that, Christians from various northern states of Nigeria which include plateau, Bauchi, katsina, Gombe, Taraba, kaduna and sokoto were opportune to be among those who attended the interfaith Ramadan iftar to promote interreligious tolerance and mutual understanding among the adherence of different faith base organization in the country

Adding that for the past 12 years, they have been coming from various states in the north to join other top Islamic scholars towards breaking Ramadan iftar fast to promote peace and unity among Nigerians .

Darlung called for more prayers from both Muslims and Christians clerics nation wide ,, as he appealled to the newly elected candidate to always unite the people and, put the nation in their hearts

A good weekend they say is heralded by great weekdays. And in the case of Taraba state Governor Elect, Lt Col. Agbu Kefas (rtd), nothing could have been truer. Right after he got his certificate of return, the swashbuckling ex soldier has been doing many things consider the right moves. His utterances, his mannerisms and even social interactions presents him as one prepared for the job. There is also a clear sense of mission as he continously talks about working hard to change the narratives of Taraba state. In an instant, Taraba knew something different is upon us: a paradigm shift and a new deal.

He’s also brimming with hope as he hasn’t stopped talking of the state’s potentials. In various interviews, he has stayed on script, unraveling his plans and programs. Although not letting the cat out of the bag, Kefas doesn’t leave anyone in doubt about his good intentions, his sincerity and transparency. There is also decency seeping through his actions and comments: no double speak, no verbosity and no blame games- same style he adopted during his campaigns. A style that has endeared him to almost everyone who now calls him “Mai gaskia’ (man of truth)

Kefas famously once said he was running on the strength of his character and the dictate of his conscience. Happily, that’s how he plans to govern too. He plans to use all states resources to enrich the people, solve age long challenges and brings about rapid development.

In actualising these, he’s the Ultimate iconoclast, tearing down walls and old models. Where there was mediocrity he wants to shine his brilliance. Where there was sloth, his youthful energies would become the order. He’s not encumbered by mental or physical infirmities. He’s not limited by ancient hangups or stereotypes. Just a new man or better, new wine in a new bottle.

His incoming government is anchored on righteousness, efficiency, fairness and 21st century ideas that are changing the world. It is this direction that has made him a nightmare to the old class from the start. They knew he would deliver and be different once he gets in. The leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward 1, Ajaka in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi state has denied knowledge of the purported letter of suspension on the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yakubu Murtala Ajaka.

The APC leaders said said falsehood by the mischief makers becomes more glaring from the inclusion of the name and signature of the late Ward Welfare Secretary, Danjuma Sani, who died on 13th April, 2022.

In a disclaimer letter addressed to Hon. Yakubu Murtala Ajaka, dated Friday, 24 of March 2023, and signed by the APC chairman Ajaka ward 1, Omale Danladi and the ward secretary, Suleiman Abubakar, the party leaders queried the time and place where the ward executive members met to take decision to suspend the Hon. Yakubu Murtala Ajaka.

While regretting the inconveniences and pandemonium caused the governorship aspirant as a result of the purported suspension, the ward executives assured him of “unalloyed support for you before, during and after the elections and to further assure you that, with your unmatched records and by the grace of God, your victory in the forthcoming elections is assured.”

The letter which is copied to the APC national chairman, North-central APC chairman and the Kogi state APC chairman reads: “We, the leadership of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 1, Ajaka in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi state wish to and hereby deny the purported letter of your suspension alongside all the allegations contained therein in entirety, as they are completely frivolous, false and a calculated attempt by political enemies to tarnish the image of the generality of Ward 1 Party Excos and to distract and frustrate your selfless political ambition.

“The falsehood and mischief of the mischief makers becomes more glaring from the inclusion of the name and signature of our deceased Exco member by the name Danjuma Sani Ejika (Welfare Secretary) who died on 13th April, 2022 on a purported document containing the names and signatures of Ajaka Ward 1 Exco members present at the purported meeting whereat the decision to suspend you was reached.

“What is more, the place, date and time when we, the Ajaka Ward 1 leadership of our great party reached the purported decision to suspend you is not stated on the letter.

“While we regret all the inconveniences and pandemonium occasioned by this mischievous act of the political enemies, may we use this medium to reiterate our unalloyed support for you before, during and after the elections and to further assure you that, with your unmatched records and by the grace of God, your victory in the forthcoming elections is assured.”

Col. Agbu Kefas, the Governor Elect for Taraba state has dismissed the insinuation in some quarters about the plan for an exclusive Christian agenda.

Hon. Emmanuel Bello Spokes person for Col. Agbu Kefas in a press statement titled “Not in Colonel Kefas character” described the mischievous piece floating on the internet as fake news and the handiwork of his opponents and should be disregarded

Part of the statement reads;
“Our attention has been drawn to a mischievous and heavily childish piece floating on the internet purportedly from Taraba state Governor Elect, Lt Col Agbu Kefas (rtd). Discerning minds have since dismissed the fake post but for the purpose of clarity let’s state that Kefas can not and has never been associated with parochial religious bigotry. The jaundiced piece, presented as a leaked text message from Kefas, tried to create the impression that Kefas is planning an exclusive Christian agenda (whatever that means) as governor”.

“First, Kefas, a trained intelligence officer of the finest order can not be that careless in his phone activities to send such a sensitive message to anyone. But on the whole, nothing on that piece is true about the nature of Kefas: a balanced, global and detribalised soul. What’s more, through out his campaign, Kefas was consistent in denouncing religious bigotry in all its manifestations. He always emphasized that both in his early and adult life, religious harmony was a big thing with him. His grandmother is Muslim. Many of his top friends are Muslims. The military, the main institution that shaped his world view, had instilled him a love for all cutting across genders, tribal affiliations and all faiths”.

“The funny text making the rounds is the last feeble attempt to attack what is looking like an impeccable record in character and lifestyle. Since Kefas happened on the political scene, many of his traducers are abit confused what to accused him of. That he defeated opponents at the poll does not mean he would discriminate against their faiths. He’s planning to be Governor to all Taraba citizens irrespective of who they worship”.

International election observers under the aegis of Pan African Women Projects, have stated that the March 18, 2023 governorship and state house of assembly elections held in Akwa Ibom state have met the international commendations of free, transparent, and peaceful conduct of the electoral process.

They made this statement at a press conference held on the 21st of March, 2023 in Uyo with the theme, “Strengthening Democracy”.

The Pan African Women Projects which is an international non-governmental organisation comprised of women from all 54 countries in Africa has observed several elections in over 15 African countries including Nigeria.

Addressing journalists at a press conference in Uyo on Tuesday, the non-governmental organisation said it deployed over 150 trained elections observers to the 31 local government areas, and made their observations and submissions in the areas of logistics, INEC ad-hoc staff, turnout of voters, security, vote-buying/lobbying, technology (BIVAS), etc.

The organisation’s spokesperson, Ms. Candice Solomon at the press conference commended the Independent Electoral Commission, citizens of Akwa Ibom, and security personnel for organising a free, transparent and peaceful election which prompted them to adjudge it as having met international standards.

“We use this medium to appreciate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the opportunity to serve in this election as one of the accredited FOREIGN OBSERVER GROUPS.

“We want to sincerely and greatly appreciate Professor Mahmud Yakubu and the entire department of gender and inclusivity of the commission, especially for the unwavering supports that made our work very easy.

“We also appreciate the various security agencies that worked tirelessly to ensure our safety by providing all the intelligence and protection needed to carry out our onerous duties.

“The 18th March 2023 Governorship and State House of Assembly Elections in Akwa Ibom State meets International commendations of a free, transparent and peaceful conduct of electoral process.”

The observers however called on security agents to “address all security lapses in the 2023 election and employ more personnel into the system to improve on a more effective security network during elections in Nigeria.”

They also noted general low turnout of voters in the exercise and submitted that “INEC’s performance at the Presidential elections especially as results were seen not to be transmitted to the IREV across the State had altered people’s trust in the electoral system.

Pastor Umo Eno of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP won the Governorship elections ahead of Senator Bassey Albert and Mr Akan Udofia of the YPP and APC respectively.

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has commended the Arewa Community in Lagos, led by the Sarkin Hausawan Lagos – the Chairman Arewa Council of Chiefs Alhaji (Dr) Aminu Yaro Dogara, Sarkin Hausawan along with Sarkin Fulanin Lagos (Chairman, Fulani Council of Chiefs) Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Abubakar Bambado during the Presidential and Governorship election.

This is even as the group averred that it is gratifying to note that the contribution of voters of the Arewa community in Lagos helped greatly in securing the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the re-election of Governor Sanwo-Olu on which the Arewa Community helped to secure their victory voluntarily, without requesting a dime from them.

The National President of AYCF, Alhaji Shettima Yerima in a statement said, “in view of the current development of Lagos State’s democratic space, the Arewa Community in Lagos, led by the Sarkin Hausawa and Sarkin Fulani (Chairman, Fulani Council of Chiefs), has made valuable sacrifice in the Presidential, National Assembly and governorship elections in Lagos State.

“We are compelled to openly express our happiness over the volunteerism and self-sacrifice of the Arewa Community led by both Sarkin Hausawa and Sarkin Fulani monarchs, including their kith and kins in 19 States of Northern Nigeria, in the elections that produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s democratically-elected leader.

“We feel duty bound therefore, to follow-up on the promise made by President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu to all Northerners, to redeem his beautiful promise of protecting their image, integrity and safety, including the Arewa Community in Lagos. We believe this will further strengthen their faith in the capacity of the President-elect to deliver on his mandate.

“It was exciting how the Arewa Community redoubled their sacrifice and volunteerism in finally ensuring the success of Governor Sanwo-Olu in his new tenure of office. This is a genuine demonstration of their trust and confidence in both the President-elect and the Lagos State State Governor.

“It is on record that the Arewa Community selflessly did everything they could to support their own, tremendously, without recourse to party, state, or the candidates because they believe in Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Most importantly, promise is a debt, and we believe the President-elect and the incumbent governor (whose mandate has just been renewed)are well aware of this truism. We hope they will live up to expectations as soon as possible, especially for a voting population that did not collect a single Kobo before casting their votes for both the President-elect and the Governor whose mandate has just been renewed by our voters.

“For those of us, Arewa people in Lagos Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a big egbon because he is a son to our late leader and Sarkin Hausawa Late Alhaji Dogara Yaro, whom he fondly called Baba. So, we actually did it for our very own brother, let it be known that the reward for good is always good; we delivered indeed.

“Finally, we congratulate the President-elect, Governor Sanwo-Olu and pray that the pledge for the Arewa Community in Lagos are fulfilled by both the President-elect and Governor Sanwo-olu. This is also a confirmation that both the Sarkin Hausawa and Sarkin Fulani are on the side of Progressives. A very important philosophy in this life is embodied in a popular saying that to whom much IS given, much is expected” he stressed.

Abia Obidients have lambasted the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) over the electoral umpire’s inconsistency regarding Abia governorship election.

In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Chetachi Ikpe and Ndubueze Obiakwata, Coordinator, Peter Obi Grassroots Movement (POGM), Abia State and Chairman, Obidients Across Parties Alliance(OAPA) respectively, accused INEC of double standards and not being consistent with its inconsistencies.

“Abia Obidients categorically demand that INEC must strive to avoid playing double standards by not being consistent with its inconsistencies regarding the electoral umpire’s bizarre decision to suspend the announcement of Governorship results from Obingwa LGA”.

It would be recalled that INEC earlier today suspended the collation of results in the said LGA for investigation and interrogation

The groups urged INEC to declare the results and advised aggreived members to seek legal redress.

“Using the commission’s position on the presidential election as a precedent, we urge INEC to immediately announce the Obingwa LGA Governorship election result and proceed to announce the winner of the election. It is disheartening when INEC appears to have different set of rules for different political parties and personalities. That is very unhealthy for Nigerian democracy”.

Healing Streams One of the Scriptures she shared as she prayed, was culled from 1 John 3:8. She emphasized on the life of Christ, ‘For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.’ She described the work of God as concerns divine health, “The work of God is your miracle today, the work of God is your testimony today, and the work of God is your healing today. There’s restoration for you today!”

She continued by encouraging participants expecting a miracle, “Prepare for your testimony by documenting the condition you are now and get ready to celebrate. Prayers have gone forth for you!” she declared.

Then, there was a special talk show segment with Pastor Deola Phillips and Rev. Tom Amenkhienan discussing the impact and outpour of testimonies on the first day.

Like many, they were in awe of the teaching of the man of God, and the astounding miracles ushered in the lives of countless all over the world.

Janet Polar is one remarkable recipient of the healing power of God at Day 1 of the Live Healing Service with Pastor Chris. This woman suffered from a heart disease and paralysis, which left her bedridden and incontinent for 2 years. While participating from a healing center, she was revived. Now she can walk, run, and move around freely.

The Lord said we would witness extraordinary miracles, and so has it been. Momodu Mohammed had lived with mental depression and drug addiction for five years; this resulted in uncoordinated speech and mental instability.

Shalin was the first live testifier for the day, a young and vibrant teenager, who was oppressed by demons for six years. This led to her collapsing frequently, attempting suicide on several occasions and being unconscious. Today, these things are history! Shalin was completely set free at the July Healing Streams Live Healing Services when the man of God, Pastor Chris, laid hands on her and the demon left forever.

This testimony meant so much to her family as their lives were earlier destabilized owing to her unstable condition.

Another family filled with gratitude for the Healing Streams Live Healing Services is that of Nicholas. One night, without any symptoms, Nicholas’ baby became pale and motionless. She was dead. While her parents prayed intensely for a miracle, they remembered a prayer by Pastor Chris for children from a previous edition of Healing Streams. Nicholas played the audio right next to the baby’s ear, and instantly, the baby’s eyes popped open. She received life!

Thrills and excitement saturated the atmosphere. Every testimony displays the wondrous love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

What followed this segment was an enrapturing praise session led by the scintillating Loveworld Singers. While they sang, the congregation witnessed the arrival of the man of God.

In his teaching during the service, Pastor Chris enlightened participants across the world on a Christian’s future in Christ. He said, “The Glory of God is integrated to you when you believe the Gospel.”

Further dissecting this truth, he read several verses in the book of Romans, which explains how Jesus gave His Glory to anyone who believes in him.

That’s the reason why ‘if any man be in Christ he’s a new creature’. He has received a new life. This new life came with the righteousness of Christ, guiltless and acquitted.

Christ paid with his life so all who come to know him wouldn’t have to suffer the judgement to come. ‘Those who believe in Jesus will be bold on the Day of Judgment (1 John 4:17).

The exhortation came to its peak as Pastor Chris concluded with these words, “All people are beautiful when the right thing happens with them. When Christ comes into your life, there’s a beauty and there’s a glory.”

The pivotal moment came when Pastor Chris approached the sick in the studio, and one could see their hunger and desire for a new diagnosis of divine health.

As the man of God laid hands on the sick, rebuked the evil spirits, and in some cases, blew on them; the devils of darkness fled. The lame walked, the bedridden jumped, the weak sprung up with renewed strength, and many more miracles took place!

The healing power enveloped everywhere, as prophesied in the days leading to the March Live Healing Services, and the testimonies received are simply beyond what the mind can fathom.

Lucy in the United Kingdom had a stroke and diabetes for two years, she was confined to a walking aid. As Pastor Chris ministered, she received her healing, and now, she walks without the aid.

Over in China, a 40-year-old was healed of hemiparesis due to cerebral hemorrhage. A woman paralyzed since 2020, who was also deaf in both ears, testified of her healing, and also, her brother gave his life to Christ and received the Holy Spirit.
