Group Throws Weight Behind Defence Minister Amidst PDP’s Disguised Agendas

Audu Bongos

The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) stands resolutely in support of Defence Minister Bello Mohammed Matawalle in light of the recent politically motivated protests orchestrated by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the guise of a non-existent group, the APC Akida.

According to a statement issued by the Chairman Salihu Suleiman, the protests, which have been sponsored by discontented elements within the Zamfara State political landscape, are not only an affront to the integrity of our democratic processes but also an attempt to undermine the significant strides made by the federal government in addressing the pervasive issue of insecurity in our region.

“The recent protests, characterized by their politically charged rhetoric, have raised questions about the motivations behind such demonstrations. While dissent is a fundamental aspect of democracy, it becomes problematic when it is driven by ulterior motives, cloaked in the guise of grassroots movements.

“The APC Akida, a name that has surfaced in the political arena, appears to be a phantom entity, lacking a clear mandate or representation. This raises concerns about the authenticity of the protests and the intentions of those orchestrating them.

“The Defence Minister has been a pivotal figure in the ongoing efforts to ensure national security and stability, particularly in the northern regions of Nigeria, where challenges abound.
We wish to remind Governor Dauda Lawal that his actions will not go unnoticed.

“In the fullness of time, he will be called to account for his numerous distractive antics that serve only to hinder the commendable efforts of the federal government and the gallant troops led by Minister Matawalle. It is imperative to recognize that these antics are not merely political posturing; they represent a dangerous diversion that threatens the stability and security of our beloved region and country.

The Northern Awareness Network commended the unwavering commitment and sacrifices of the federal troops, whose bravery has been instrumental in the fight against insecurity. We acknowledge the strong will of President Tinubu, whose leadership has fostered a renewed spirit of cooperation among various security agencies, adding that the collaborative efforts between these agencies, significantly enhanced by Minister Matawalle, have yielded tangible results in the ongoing battle against the forces that seek to destabilize our communities.

“Moreover, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Nigeria’s friends across the globe who have lent their support in this critical fight against insecurity. Their contributions have been invaluable, reinforcing our collective resolve to restore peace and security to our nation. It is through such partnerships that we can fortify our efforts and emerge victorious in this protracted struggle.

As we navigate the complexities of our current security landscape, we urge Minister Matawalle and our security forces to remain vigilant against emerging threats, particularly the rising menace of Lakurawa. This evolving challenge demands a robust and strategic response, grounded in the rule of law and an unwavering commitment to their obligations as custodians of peace.

“It is crucial that their approach to combating these threats is not only decisive but also considerate of the principles of disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration, which are essential for achieving lasting peace in the region.

“Victory in this context will not be defined solely by the defeat of adversaries but rather by the comprehensive cessation of hostilities and the restoration of normalcy in our communities. We must strive for a future where all citizens can live free from fear, where families can thrive, and where the spirit of unity prevails over division”.

NAN reaffirmed its unwavering support for Defence Minister Bello Mohammed Matawalle. We call upon all stakeholders to unite in this critical fight against insecurity, to rise above political machinations, and to work collaboratively towards a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.

Protest Against Matawalle Aimed At Distablising Tinubu’s Administration – AYCF

Grace Adele

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) have averred that the recent protests and disturbances orchestrated against the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle are not mere expressions of dissent; rather, they form part of a broader scheme aimed at destabilizing the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

AYCF in a statement by it’s President General Yerima Shettima alleged that, such orchestrated campaign is being driven by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) operating in proxy for the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.

The AYCF in the statement said it recognizes that Matawalle has emerged as a formidable voice for the President in Northern Nigeria, adding that his unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of our communities has made him a target for those who perceive his influence as a threat.

“The recent protests are a desperate attempt by these perpetrators to undermine his credibility and, by extension, the integrity of President Tinubu’s administration. It is evident that they see Matawalle’s steadfastness and dedication as significant obstacles to their political ambitions, which is why they are hell-bent on orchestrating his downfall.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to retain Matawalle in his cabinet is a powerful endorsement of the Minister’s performance and contributions to national security. In an era where political machinations often overshadow genuine governance, President Tinubu has demonstrated remarkable foresight and courage by standing firm with Matawalle despite the relentless challenges posed by the PDP faction, which has been masquerading as the APC Akida.

“This group, under the influence of Governor Dauda Lawal, has sought to exploit the political landscape for their gain, leveraging misinformation and incitement to create discord” Shettima stated.

AYCF urged the Minister of State to remain undistracted by the provocations, stressing that his track record in combating banditry and ensuring the safety of the people speaks volumes about his capabilities and dedication.

“The recent threats posed by the Lakurawa and other criminal elements should be met with the same tenacity and resolve that he has exhibited in the past. Matawalle’s leadership has been pivotal in the fight against insecurity, and we have every confidence that he will continue to rise to the occasion”.

The AYCF called upon all stakeholders, particularly the youth of Northern Nigeria, to recognize the larger implications of these protests and disturbances, adding that it is imperative that they remain vigilant against divisive tactics that seek to undermine our collective progress, saying the unity of our region and the stability of our nation depend on our ability to discern between genuine grievances and politically motivated attacks.

“We reaffirm our unwavering support for Bello Mohammed Matawalle and urge him to persist in his vital work for the security of our communities. The AYCF stands ready to mobilize our members and allies in defense of our leaders who are committed to the welfare of our people. Together, we will confront the challenges ahead and ensure that the forces of destabilization do not prevail” the forum assured.
