Debunking The Politricks Of Insecurity: Enugu State On Our Minds.

The story with the caption, 25 Persons Killed, Scores Injured As Armed Herdsmen Attack Enugu Village is not only built on devious masturbatory hallucination, but completely false.

Agreed that lately marauding herdsmen have been running amok across the Country, invading towns and villages, and leaving a trail of sorrow, tears and blood in their path. However, there was no such invaders attack on the agrarian communities of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area in Enugu State that left 25 persons dead.

This independent rebuttal of the falsehood targeted at diminishing the halcyon strides of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and the Enugu State Government in the area of Security is long overdue. We MUST not suffer ‘alarmists and fifth Columnists’ gladly. We have therefore chosen to debunk the devious falsehood of tale-mongers and bearers of false report and fake news.

Twice the false tale of marauding Herdsmen sacking communities in Enugu State have been bandied by those who are desperate to undermine the success of Enugu State in protecting lives and property. Not having any scores against the Enugu State Government in areas of Infrastructural Development, Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, and regarding facts about the profound strides of the Enugu State Government, naysayers have resorted to the Politricks Of Insecurity. They have chosen to hype isolated incidents and falsely alarm lovers of the State, Ndi’Enugu and Nigerians.

We, the Concerned Professionals For Good Governance (A Good Leadership Advocacy Group) upon seeing the news that has since gone viral regarding 25 Persons allegedly mowed down by Herdsmen in Enugu State proceeded to verify the news. We reached out to local Vigilantes, to Security Agencies as well as Agents of Government at the State and the Local Government level, sadly we found out that it was untrue. And we decided to query the possible reasons cum intention of the bearers of the false report and the fake news.

Enugu State has a premium time Digitalised Security Control Centre. Enugu State collaborates seamlessly with the Police, the Army and other Para-Military Agencies charged with the protection of lives and property. Enugu State is doing profoundly well in almost all the sectors of leadership, and Enugu State has become the go-to location for Corporate, Public Sector and Private Sector retreats and Conventions as well as Governmental events. It has become the shinning example in good governance. But Enugu State has also clearly become the envy of other States, such that Politicians seeking to diminish the laudable feats of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and His Team have resorted to the Politricks of fear-mongering and insecurity, but we shall not fold our hands and allow falsehood to stick.

Enugu State is arguably the safest State in the entire South, thanks to the commitment of the Enugu State to the protection of lives and property. This Truism have been attested to by Nigerians of different tendencies including friends and even members of Parties in the opposition in Enugu State. The commitment of the ebullient Governor of Enugu State to security is Olympic and indisputable, and not only is the State Government supportive of Security outfits with funding, the State has in place a Public and a Private Sector fueled fund to support Security Agencies in the furtherance of the Security of the State.

We can say without equivocation that Enugu State is safe and is deservedly emerging a preferred destination for investments, business, tourism, and living. It is proudly emerging a conferencing capital, ready and able to host tier one events such as the forthcoming NBA conference and Nigerian Guild of Editors Conference, among others. Ndi’Enugu are hospitable and willing to play host to legitimate institutions, as the State government in partnership with all available Security Agencies work seamlessly to guarantee peace and security in Enugu State.

We urge and encourage the media to always verify and validate information particularly issues bothering on Security before publication. That way, fake news on matters of Security will be shibboleth. And that way the Politricks Of Insecurity would cease to oil the frontiers of devious politics.

Enugu State is safe and will remain so, as the government is unalterably committed to the protection of lives and property.

Pressure Mounts by Youth in Kaduna State for Yerima Shettima to Declare Candidacy for the 2027 Elections

By Abdul-Azeez Suleiman

In the heart of Nigeria’s northern region lies Kaduna State, a melting pot of diverse cultures, ethnicities, and political ideologies. As the nation gears up for the 2027 elections, a palpable sense of urgency and enthusiasm can be felt, particularly among the youth. This demographic, which constitutes a significant portion of the population, is increasingly rallying around one figure: Yerima Shettima. A charismatic leader with a proven track record of youth engagement and advocacy, Shettima has become the focal point of a burgeoning movement urging him to declare his candidacy for the upcoming elections. The calls for his declaration are not merely a reflection of personal admiration; they signify a broader demand for a transformative leadership that resonates with the aspirations of the young populace.
In recent months, social media campaigns, grassroots mobilizations, and public demonstrations have surged in Kaduna State, all echoing a singular message: “We want Yerima Shettima to run!” This movement is fueled by a collective desire for representation that reflects the hopes and concerns of a generation often sidelined in political discourse. The youth, who are increasingly aware of their power as voters and change-makers, see Shettima as a leader who understands their struggles—be it unemployment, education, or social justice.
The youth in Kaduna State are not just passive supporters; they are active participants in shaping the political environment. Their engagement reflects a growing trend across Nigeria, where young people are asserting their rights and demanding accountability from their leaders. This shift is particularly significant in a state like Kaduna, which has experienced its share of socio-political challenges, including ethnic tensions and security issues. The youth’s demand for Shettima to declare his candidacy is, therefore, not just about individual preference; it is about a vision for a more inclusive and responsive governance that prioritizes their needs.
Yerima Shettima’s appeal lies in his charisma and his ability to connect with the youth on a personal level. As a prominent youth leader, he has championed various initiatives aimed at empowering young people, including skill acquisition programs, advocacy for education, and campaigns against youth unemployment. His commitment to these causes has earned him respect and admiration, positioning him as a relatable figure who embodies the aspirations of the youth.
Moreover, Shettima’s leadership style is characterized by inclusivity and engagement. He actively listens to the concerns of young people and incorporates their feedback into his initiatives. This participatory approach has fostered a sense of ownership among the youth, making them feel that their voices matter in the political arena. As he continues to consult and deliberate on his potential candidacy, the youth remain hopeful that he will ultimately choose to run, believing that his leadership could usher in a new era for Kaduna State.
For any political candidate, particularly one emerging from a grassroots movement, the guarantee of mass support is crucial. The youth in Kaduna State are not merely calling for Shettima to declare his candidacy; they are also demanding a commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. They want assurances that their interests will be prioritized and that their voices will be heard in the corridors of power.
This demand for a solid guarantee of mass support underscores the need for Shettima to engage in comprehensive consultations with various stakeholders, including youth groups, civil society organizations, and community leaders. By doing so, he can solidify his base and demonstrate that his candidacy is not just a personal ambition but a collective movement aimed at addressing the pressing issues facing the state.
As the 2027 elections approach, the pressure mounts for Yerima Shettima to declare his candidacy, fueled by the fervent support of the youth in Kaduna State. This movement represents a significant shift in the political landscape, highlighting the growing influence of young people in shaping Nigeria’s future. Shettima’s charisma and commitment to youth empowerment position him as a potential catalyst for change, but the path to candidacy requires careful consideration and engagement with the very constituents who rally behind him. The youth’s call for a solid guarantee of mass support is not just a demand for a leader; it is a clarion call for a new political paradigm that prioritizes the voices of the young and paves the way for a more inclusive and prosperous Kaduna State.

Borno Attack: Group Defends Information Minister over Zulum’s Statement ,Says Media misquoted him

…Blasts Ndume for Not Appreciating FG Efforts, Attacking the Minister

Arewa Forum for Good Governance has come out to defend the media statement credited to Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris over the insecurity situation in Borno State after the recent Boko Haram attack in Damboa.

According to the group, the information Minister couldn’t have been ignorant or naive to speak flippantly about the loss of lives of the citizens in Maiduguri with levity.

The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum had criticised the the Minister he described as “naive” about the country’s security realities following a deadly Boko Haram attack on the Damboa-Maiduguri Road that left eight people dead , seven others injured, and 14 with minor injuries.

In a reaction to the Governor Zulum ‘s statement, Arewa Forum for Good Governance in a statement signed by the Secretary, Comrade Yushau Mahmood disclosed ,”The Minister of Information was not only misquoted by the media, but also misconstrued by Governor Zulum, who faulted the minister’s remarks based on media report and not position of the government about the incident

The statement further reads :”Governor Zulum reacted to the media report which quoted the information Minister to have said “Ignore Zulum, Boko Haram is not taking over Borno.”

“And we have investigated and discovered that such a headline was not only sensational but deliberately crafted as a deliberate act of misinformation to distract the public from the serious work the Federal Government is doing to address security challenges.

“We have known Zulum to be one Governor that has always being passionate and committed about providing security and dividends of democracy for the good people of Borno, but we are worried about his recent reactions to the media headlines.

“There is no doubt that current wave of insecurity in the North needs serious attention, however ,there is a need for Borno Government and federal Government to work together to provide permanent solutions and not fault finding.

Most worrisome is the unnecessary statements of Senator Ali Ndume on the attack . We are surprised that Senator Ndume, a former Chairman ,House Committee on Army, who is expected to more knowledgeable about efforts put in to contain the security challenges in Borno and other past of the North in last twenty months could come out to criticise the Minister of Information , claiming he dismissed warnings from the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, about the resurgence of insurgency in the state.

For us ,as the voice of good governance in the North attributing a title such as ,” Minister of Misinformation” to a hardworking Minister like Mohammed Idris speaks volumes about him as a man with low character.

Buhari’s Kaduna neighbours Cry out,You neglected us for 8 years

Angry at the recent relocation to Kaduna , Group under umbrella of Ungwar Sarki/Ungwar Rimi Youth Association have cried out over what they termed “Eight Years of Neglect” by Former Muhammadu Buhari’s to Kaduna.

The group comprising residents and organic supporters of within Buhari’s Kaduna residence said it is highly unfortunate that he never considered anyone of them for appointments or employment during his days as President.

In a statement signed by the leader of the group,Mal Musa Ibrahim Usman, Former President Buhari We are most saddened at manner he abandoned the Yahaya Road mosque he used to pray before becoming President. Not even a praying may was sent to support growth and development of the worship place

The group in the statement lamented, “We can’t believe that with all our support over the years ,there is none amongst the neighbors around Ungwar Rimi and Ungwar Sarki that can boast that Buhari either helped them via any appointment with federal government; empowerment programme or any business initiative .

“It is regrettably that Since Buhari won elections in 2015 and left for Abuja as President, he never looked back to same place that helped to be president until after he lost power and became jobless.

Since 2003 when joined politics and ran for President under ANPP Teeming youths followed and supported Buhari wholeheartedly without financial gains

“We were not only surprised, but dissapointed that When the former Governor of Kaduna,Mal .Nasir Elrufai demolished our shops and houses, Buhari never made any attempt to intervene or prevail over the governor.

“People were killed and injured because of Buhari ,but he got power on a platter of gold only to abandon those who supported him to be there.

“We are therefore telling him to go back to his Katsina hometown and forget about any support from us again.”

Apex Northern Group Slams  Rumour Mongers Over Claims of INEC Chairman’s Replacement

Isiawa Onche

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has vehemently condemned the recent spate of rumors alleging the replacement of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu.

The Arewa group in a statement issued by it’s President General Yerima Shettima categorically describe such claims as ‘fake and mischievous,’ aimed at sowing discord and confusion within the political landscape of our great nation.

Shettima said, in a time when Nigeria is striving for unity and progress under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the dissemination of such baseless rumors serves no purpose other than to undermine the credibility of our democratic institutions.

The AYCF urges all citizens to recognize these fabrications for what they are: attempts by detractors to destabilize the current administration and distract from its agenda of governance and national development.

“It is crucial for the public to understand that the integrity of the electoral process is paramount to our democracy. The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has been at the forefront of ensuring free and fair elections in Nigeria. Any attempt to disrupt this process is an affront to the democratic principles we hold dear.

“We warn those behind these malicious rumors to desist immediately. Such actions are not only irresponsible but also detrimental to the collective aspirations of the Nigerian people. Instead of engaging in the politics of division, we implore all citizens and political actors to allow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to function smoothly, focusing on policies and initiatives that will foster national growth and development.

“Furthermore, we urge the public to remain vigilant and discerning when it comes to information regarding government appointments and decisions. In this digital age, where misinformation spreads rapidly, it is essential to rely on official announcements from credible sources.

“Any news regarding changes in the leadership of INEC or other significant political developments should only be trusted if it comes from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) or other verified official channels”.

He posited that as we navigate this critical phase in our nation’s history, let us prioritize unity, progress, and the rule of law.

The AYCF called upon all Nigerians to stand together against the forces of misinformation and to support the efforts of our leaders in building a prosperous future for our country.

The President General said, the forum remain committed to advocating for the interests of the youth and the broader Arewa community. We will continue to monitor the political landscape and engage constructively with all stakeholders to ensure that the voices of our people are heard and respected.

Middle Belt Forum Praises President Tinubu for Appointing Ajularin as NNPCL Boss

By Jonathan Somna

ABUJA — The Middle Belt Forum (MBF) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Engineer Bayo Ajularin as the new Group Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), describing the move as a commitment to merit, national unity, and inclusivity.

In a statement released on Monday, April 8, 2025, and signed by the Forum’s spokesman, Luka Binniyat, the MBF congratulated Ajularin and extended gratitude to President Tinubu for what it called a “thoughtful and strategic” decision.

“Mr. Ajularin, a distinguished son of Oke Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, embodies the values of integrity, dedication, and professional competence that abound in the Middle Belt region,” the statement read.

The Forum highlighted Ajularin’s vast industry knowledge and his strong professional background, stating that his appointment is both a personal achievement and a source of pride for the Middle Belt region.

“This decision reflects Mr. President’s unwavering commitment to excellence and recognition of merit irrespective of geography,” the MBF stated.

The Forum expressed confidence that Ajularin would live up to expectations and contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s hydrocarbon sector, which remains the nation’s economic mainstay.

The MBF reiterated its support for the President’s efforts to ensure inclusive and competent leadership across national institutions.

NSCF Demands Probe  into Allegations Against Defence Minister Muhammed Badaru

By Christy Adikwu

The Northern Stakeholders Consultative Forum (NSCF) has expressed its deep concern regarding the allegations of abuse of office and conflict of interest against the Honourable Minister of Defence, Muhammed Abubakar Badaru, and demands a serious probe into the matter.

The forum, in a statement issued by its spokesperson Aliyu Muhammad, called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to initiate a comprehensive probe into the matter, reinforcing the integrity of his administration’s commitment to the fight against corruption. “It is imperative to highlight that the principles of transparency and accountability are foundational to good governance.”

Muhammad noted that the recent petition submitted by the Young Guardians of Accountability (YGA) has brought to light troubling claims that Minister Badaru has violated federal laws by maintaining active business interests while serving in a public office. He added that the YGA’s allegations indicate that the minister continues to operate private companies, including a Bureau de Change, in direct contravention of legal restrictions that prohibit such conflicts of interest.

The NSCF acknowledged the commendable efforts made by President Tinubu’s administration in addressing corruption but urged the President to demonstrate consistency in applying the same level of scrutiny to Minister Badaru.

“The establishment of a committee to investigate allegations of financial misconduct against Edu was a necessary step towards accountability. It is crucial that this same rigor be extended to all public officials, including those in the highest echelons of government.

“The President cannot afford to be selective in the war against corruption. If the administration is to maintain its credibility and the trust of the Nigerian people, it must be unwavering in its commitment to uphold the law. The perception of selectivity in the fight against corruption undermines public confidence and could potentially erode the very foundation upon which this administration stands.”

“It is our belief that the allegations against Minister Badaru, if left unaddressed, will foster an environment of skepticism and distrust among the citizenry regarding the government’s anti-corruption stance.”

NSCF recognized that the fight against corruption is a complex and multifaceted challenge, but it is one that must be met with steadfast resolve. The assurance given by this administration that no one is above the law must be upheld in practice, not merely in rhetoric.

“The selective investigation of certain individuals while others remain unaccountable creates an impression of favoritism and inequity that is detrimental to the principles of justice and fairness. This situation is not merely a matter of ethical governance; it poses significant risks to national security. The individual responsible for protecting our borders and ensuring the safety of our citizens must be above reproach, both in conduct and in perception.

“It is deeply troubling that the individual responsible for overseeing Nigeria’s defense and security is involved in financial dealings that could pose a conflict of interest. This is not just about corruption—it is about the safety and security of the nation. If the allegations are true, then Mr. Badaru must step aside to allow a full and independent investigation,” the statement from the organization reads.

The implications of these allegations extend beyond mere governance; they touch upon the very fabric of our national sovereignty. If a minister entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding our nation is entangled in questionable financial activities, it raises legitimate concerns about the prioritization of national interests over personal gain, the group stated.

The citizens of Nigeria deserve to have confidence in their leaders, and any shadow of doubt must be addressed transparently and decisively.

Furthermore, the NSCF urged President Tinubu to reassure Nigerians that his government is steadfast in its commitment to accountability across all sectors.

“We are calling on the President to act decisively and prove that his administration’s anti-corruption agenda is not just rhetoric. The credibility of this government is at stake, and Nigerians are watching closely,” the group emphasized.

In a time when our nation faces numerous challenges—ranging from security threats to economic instability—leadership integrity is crucial.

The NSCF reiterated its call for Minister Badaru to step aside during the investigation process to ensure that it is conducted without bias or interference.

“The safety and security of Nigeria must always come first, and we must work collectively to uphold the values of integrity and accountability in our governance,” the statement concluded.

Shehu Sani to Fulani Group,Tell Your People to Stop Banditry,Kidnappings, Herdsmen Violence

… Donates N1m Naira for procurement of Educational Activities

Former Lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani has urged the group of fulanis that visited him for Sallah homage at his Kaduna residence to tell their people to stop banditry, kidnappings and herdsmen violence in the North and other parts of the country.

Shehu Sani,President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, (CRCN) and leading figure in the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria, overtly expressed dismay over the tarnished image of the Fulanis over issues of banditry and kidnappings .

“It is unfortunate that most of the Bandits and kidnappers in the North are basically fulanis and that’s the truth you know, but may not like.”he lamented.

Shehu Sani who stated this during the visit by Fulani Group, said its high time, something is done immediately to redeem image of the Fulani ethnic group now because,”The activities of Bandits have destroyed the lives and reputations of even the fulani people.

While urging the group to commence image minding activities to redeem the tarnished image of the ordinary and good fulanis across the country, he stressed,”You have a moral and patriotic duty to tell your people in your own language to stop the criminality of kidnappings and banditry.

“For centuries,Fulanis have been known to be peaceful and accommodating people…why should you allow your ethnic group become a brand for violence?

Speaking further the said He explained: “Today the fulanis that have become a complete nuisance as herdsmen, bandits and as terrorists,it couldn’t have happened .
“The people we failed to educate three to four decades ago ,have today constituted the major problem for the northwest, northern power of Nigeria and for most part of the country in terms of security matters.

“The North is a victim of its own leaders who failed to educate the nomads in our hinterland that today constitute a problem to the security and peace of the country”

“We failed to give them books and pens and now they are chasing us with Guns.

” The Babangida’s nomadic education program was a visionary idea nurtured by the then minister of education professor Jibril Aminu,a fulani man like you and the commission was deliberately starved of funds and left to die.

“Livestock is a multi billion Naira business. The nation must find a way to harness it. The recent establishment of the federal ministry of livestock is a step in the right direction.

“Most of the leading bandits in Niger state; Zamfara State , Kaduna State have never hidden their identity as fulanis. They killed imams; pastors, Muslims and Christians they even kill leaders of Miyetti Allah.

“Unfortunately, the attack that happened in School of Agric. mechanisation the families paid over 300 million naira;the attack that happened in Bethel Baptist School, the families paid over 250 million naira and the attack that happened in Green Field University, the families paid over 400 million naira as ransom

“Think of the ransom that was paid for Federal Government College ,Yawuri, Government Science College,Kagara, Girls Schools in Jangibe and kankara ,think of all those ransom.

“If you put it together in bulk, it’s in billions Fulanis have collecting billions as ransom but, you can’t see one Fulani man in the whole of this Kaduna with one million naira ,so what takes the money .

“If you are involved in extortion you ought to have been seen the fulanis with wealth, cars businesses and other assets, but none .Today the fulanis are poorer than before the era of banditry.

“Before Fulanis took to banditry you will see a fulani with over a thousand vows .Now however many fulanis have cows, few. So, it means that there is a possibility that the your people ,the fulanis are used as foot soldiers by some forces that are unknown.

“All the bandits when they are arrested you see wretched look ,they don’t even have clothes to wear food to eat .No homes .”
Earlier in his speech, the group leader of the Fulani group, Hassan Lamido thanked Shehu Sani for the warm reception accorded during the Sallah homage and solicited support of funds to procure educational materials for onward distribution to young fulani children in Giwa and Birnin -Gwari local government areas of Kaduna State.

Lamido, who disclosed why the group was established, said the campaign to Create awareness for the “Back to School” amongst the Fulanis was informed by the relative peace achieved and importance of education for development.

Shehu Sani however, donated one million Naira as support for immediate procurement of the educational materials requested.
