Press Release From Dokan Karji Community On A Misleading Rejoinder by Bomba Dauda (21st November, 2014)

The attention of the Dokan Karji community, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been drawn to a dubious report by a supposed Journalist “Bomba Dauda” who wrote a strong rebuttal to discredit our plight published in some of the leading National Newspapers recently.
The newspapers had correctly reported the impunity of bandits operating in some of our beleaguered communities to the extent that they have now chased out every one there and have taken over our lands unchallenged by the state. Among the Newspapers was Vanguard Newspaper which aptly put out the headline of its report as: “Bandits Overrun 14 Communities in Southern kaduna- Locals Alleges.” The reporter, Hassan Wussono who isn not even from Southern Kaduna correctly reported the crimes against our people.

But Bomba Dauda, who runs a solely image laundry online media, “Gurara Accord” is from Zangon Kataf LGA of Southern Kaduna.
Instead of adding voice to attract the attention of the top military brass he has unfettered access to so that help can come to our displaced communities, he shockingly disparage the report of Vanguard in his online article with the link attached:
https://guraraaccordonline.com/2024/11/20/re-bandits-overrun-14-communities-in-southern-kaduna-locals-alleges/

According to him, “The report is in all intent and purposes a frivolous report that is utterly speculative and over exaggerated to either gain traction or undermine the effort of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the fight against banditry in the Kauru general area.”
He then went to length defending why the Nigeria military cannot protect us.

It is disheartening and utterly reprehensible to read the malicious and misleading reports by the self-acclaimed Journalist from Southern Kaduna.

He did not indicate if he actually traveled to the communities said to be overrun by the bandits and discovered that they were still intact contrary to the Vanguard report.
He didn’t even say whether he spoke to a community leader from there who said that the story was a lie or “over exaggerated.”
So where is the information before him to come up with such a strong rebuttal?
How could the pains and sufferings of 14 communities which includes:

  1. Sabon gida libere
  2. Maikudumi
  3. Fili
  4. Unguwan Nabara
  5. Mahuta
  6. Sabon layin kan’makama
  7. Unguwan Isah
  8. Ruwan sanyi
  9. Unguwan Danja
  10. Unguwan maizuma
  11. Unguwan zango
  12. Unguwan gayya
  13. Unguwan Garkuwa
  14. Nasarawa
be dismissed as ” frivolous . . . utterly speculative . . . and over exaggerated” without a shred of convincing counter evidence from Bomba Dauda?

For this to come from a supposed experience journalist speaks much of the integrity and credibility of his training and character as a person.
What the Bomba is saying in essence is that the Nigeria state owes no community any protection because its military is overstressed and overstretched and as such, communities shouldn’t bother the Nigeria military for intervention when besieged by enemies of the state.
Is Bomba now the official spokesperson for the Nigerian Army. Or is he hired to keep us under the bondage of brigandry of bandits by our enemies?

Is the defense of life and property not the first and major reason why a government exists?

Bomba Dauda’s rejoinder (whether paid for or not) has the capacity to endanger the entire Kauru LGA as any alarm of security concern raised from that area may be seen as a lie and no authority may take our embattled citizens seriously. This is even as the bandits have continued to occupy these 14 communities unchallenged even as we issue this press statement.

In his rejoinder he mentioned that 26 hostages were rescued by the youth of Kwassam and he praised their valour and beckoned us to emulate them. Unknown to him, that was an incident that happened in Zakada community on November 14, 2024 at about 1:00 am where the 26 people kidnaped were rescued by the Youth of Dokan Karji. Our youths didn’t just free the 26 hostages, the bandist suffered heavy casualties in the encounter with our youths. But what we are saying today is that they have massed up in much larger numbers and have more advanced armaments that our people have no choice than to move away. Our call in the various news outlets was to call for assistance from the state. Is it wrong for the government to chase out the bandits and reclaim our lands?

For a Southern Kaduna native to descend to such a conscienceless level in the heat of atrocities against his fellow men is rather very sad and unfortunate. All because one man is out to impress whomever he wants even at the detriment of the survival of thousands.
It now behooves the Nigeria military to launch an investigation into our claims and come out with its findings, if that is what it will take to send help to us.
As for Dokan Karji, we shall not be distracted or discouraged from pursuing the security, safety and well-being of our fatherland by every legitimate means, including publicity.

Finally, Nigeria and the world should not be misled by the unsympathetic and totally false narration of Bomba Dauda as he has not shown any hint of humanity to our plight.

Youth Leader, Dokan Karji Community.
