INSECURITY FIRESTORM: Zamfara Governor Exposed in Blame Game Scandal!

By Jummai Bala

The Northern Elders Professional Development group has condemned Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal’s alleged blame game on insecurity, urging him to collaborate with the Federal Government to secure northern Nigeria.

The group’s Secretary-General, Dr. Adamu Lawal Giwa, denounced Governor Lawal’s desperate attempt to tarnish Minister of State Defense Bello Matawalle’s image, citing unsubstantiated allegations and divisive rhetoric.

Matawalle has consistently denied involvement with bandits, emphasizing dialogue to stop killings. His approach to addressing banditry through dialogue is not unique, as other governors in Niger, Sokoto, and Katsina states have adopted similar strategies.

Governor Lawal’s Chief Press Secretary, Sulaiman Idris, claimed Matawalle gave Hilux vehicles, money, and foodstuffs to bandits without providing concrete evidence. This accusation has sparked controversy and raised questions about the governor’s motives.

The Northern Elders Professional Development group noted that Zamfara State has spent more money on propaganda and media trials against Matawalle rather than fighting insecurity and supporting the armed forces’ operations.

According to Dr. Giwa, “A state ravaged by insecurity, poverty, poor governance, and employment challenges cannot afford the kind of propaganda and mischief created to malign anyone due to political differences.”

The group urged Governor Lawal to focus on collaborative efforts to tackle the insecurity plaguing Zamfara State, rather than making baseless accusations. They emphasized the need for patriotism and respect in building a nation worthy of the highest aspirations.

Dr. Giwa stated, “We should work together to build a nation that is worthy of our highest aspirations through patriotism and respect.” He called on Governor Lawal to prioritize the security and well-being of Zamfara citizens.

The Northern Elders Professional Development group’s call for unity and action echoes the growing concern among Nigerians for effective leadership and security solutions.

Zamfara State has struggled with monumental insecurity, poverty, poor governance, and employment challenges. The group’s statement comes at a critical time, as the state needs effective leadership to address its pressing issues.

The blame game and propaganda will not solve Zamfara’s problems; instead, they will exacerbate the situation. Governor Lawal must take responsibility and work towards finding solutions.

The Northern Elders Professional Development group’s condemnation of Governor Lawal’s actions is a step towards promoting accountability and good governance in Zamfara State.

Ultimately, the people of Zamfara State deserve better. They deserve a government that prioritizes their security, well-being, and development. Will Governor Lawal heed the call and prioritize collaborative efforts over blame games? Only time will tell.
